10Gb CNAs for IBM system x and BladeCenter servers

2009-02-24
Ethernet specialists ServerEngines Corporation have launched two 10 Gigabit Ethernet Converged Network Adapter (CNA) cards for IBM BladeCenter and System x users. The BEM3I10 high-speed I/O expansion card for the BladeCenter and the BEA3X10 stand-up PCIe adapter card for System x both provide standards-based 10Gb Ethernet connectivity and full-protocol offload iSCSI SAN capability. The cards have been qualified by IBM through the IBM BladeCenter Interoperability Program and the IBM System x Compatibility program respectively. The combination of the new cards and IBM servers allows users to benefit from the high bandwidth and low latency of 10Gb Ethernet networks. "IBM BladeCenter’s open architecture allows companies to use it as a building block to create new products like ServerEngines’ CNA cards. This reduces system design costs for third parties and lowers costs for customers while creating a broad ecosystem of products for the BladeCenter platform," said Alex Yost, vice president, IBM BladeCenter. "By collaborating with ServerEngines, IBM is providing our customers with new choices in the rapidly growing 10Gb solutions space."
