16 GB memory upgrade for HP Integrity servers | | 2008-07-31 | | | Dataram have announced the release of a 16 GB memory upgrade, the DRH8640/16GB, for Hewlett Packard’s Integrity rx7640 and rx8640 mid-range servers. Each of the upgrades consists of a matched pair of 278-pin 533 MHz ECC DDR2 DIMMs developed specifically for the rx7640 and rx8640 servers. High-density 2 Gb DRAM technology makes possible these high-capacity proprietary 8 GB DIMMs.Memory is installed on one or more HP Cell Boards based on HP’s sx2000 chipset. Each Cell Board contains four Intel Itanium 2 processor sockets and 16 DIMM slots divided into quads. The rx7640 supports one or two HP Cell Boards with a maximum of 256 GB memory capacity, whilst the rx8640 supports up to four Cell Boards with a maximum memory capacity of 512 GB. The minimum memory capacity is 2 GB per Cell Board, configured as 2 x 1 GB DIMMs and installed in echelon 0. The maximum memory capacity is 128 GB per Cell Board, configured as 16 x 8 GB DIMMs. DIMMs of different capacities can be supported, but the largest capacity DIMMs must be installed first across a Cell, followed by progressively smaller capacities. For the best performance, a Cell should be configured with a multiple of 8 DIMMs (4 pairs) and memory loaded equally across Cell Boards. | |
