Acxiom and EMC to provide disaster recovery for SMBs | | 2008-06-19 | | Figures released by the US National Archives & Records Administration reveal that 93 percent of companies that lost their data centre for 10 days or more due to a disaster filed for bankruptcy within one year, with 50 percent filing for bankruptcy immediately. A Price Waterhouse Coopers survey calculated that a single incident of data loss costs businesses an average of $10,000.
Acxiom in partnership with information infrastructure solutions leader EMC have announced a low cost disaster recovery solution aimed at the small business market for whom enterprise-class data protection solutions are too expensive and complex.
Acxiom Online Backup-X is based on EMC’s Mozy remote backup service and enables Acxiom clients and prospects to store and recover files on-demand from their desktop, saving thousands of dollars in expenses and countless hours of recovery time.
EMC currently provides backup services through the Mozy product to more than 750,000 users, including 20,000 businesses across the world. The system provides consumers with online backup services for PC, Mac, and Windows servers. Features include a private key encryption option, incremental backups, and web-based restore options and file versioning.
