Dell launches storage and disaster recovery consultancy | | 2008-06-25 | | Dell is to offer its customers a new level of customizable storage and disaster management services.
The services include disaster recovery and data backup services, and will offer tools and consultation for customers with rapidly expanding data storage requirements across multiple networking and hardware environments.
Two levels of disaster recovery will be on offer. The first level, for mid-size consumers, will protect data around key applications and provide tools to restore IT operations in case of disaster.
A higher level targeted at larger customers will include the design and implementation of IT disaster recovery plans to ensure companies have the people, process and tools to restore IT operations in the event of a crisis.
The consultation will also include the creation of a tiered storage structure which will categorize high and low-priority data to different storage levels to help a company cut costs.
Dell is also offering managed backup services with reporting and monitoring services to stabilize data backup. If a backup system malfunctions, Dell is offering a managed backup through remote management.
The new services stem from Dell’s acquisition of UK-based The Networked Storage Company last year, and the partnership it formed with GlassHouse Technologies in March.
Tiered Storage, Data Disaster Recovery and Backup Restore Optimization and Stabilization services are now available worldwide, except in Latin America. IT Disaster Recovery, Enterprise Backup and Restore Assessments and Managed Backup, Remote Backup Monitoring and Remote Backup Reporting services are available to customers in the U.S., U.K. and Canada and will be available to customers in the rest of Europe and Asia later this year.
Prices will be proportional to the size and complexity of the environment.
