Dell to sell Celerra NX4 unified storage system

Dell has announced it will begin selling EMC’s Celerra NX4 unified storage system.In addition the two companies will extend their existing partnership for another five years to 2013. Dell has been selling EMC products since 2001. The multiprotocol NX4 can be used for network-attached storage (NAS) or iSCSI storage, or within a storage area network. Scaling up to 60 drives the system can support one or two blade servers. It will be positioned above the Windows NAS in Dell’s product range, and offer a higher level of performance.The NX4 is marketed as an entry level system which according to EMC can "go from power-up to production in 15 minutes”. It supports SAS and SATA hard drives and is certified for operating within VMware-based virtualization environments and as storage for Microsoft’s Exchange e-mail server and SQL Server database. Compatible EMC applications include Celerra Filemover API, Celerra Manager and Celerra Replicator.Dell which currently supplies the mid range EMC Clariion AX and CX modular drive arrays hopes to start shipping the NX4 in the first half of 2009.
