EMC End of Service Life Announcement; Extended Support Available | | 2008-07-03 | | EMC has issued an End of Service Life (EOSL) reminder for a number of EMC software products.
EMC policy states that a software product reaches EOSL after a minimum of 36 months following the date of the product’s General Availability (GA). This policy is being implemented gradually across all EMC software and will be effective as new EMC software versions are released
Once a product reaches EOSL, EMC Technical Support is no longer available under base support/maintenance agreements. Customers must upgrade to a current release or contract for Extended Support.
After a release reaches EOSL, you will need Extended Support to receive technical support for that release, even if you have an EMC maintenance/support agreement in place. For some EMC customers this represents a change in policy.
EMC strongly recommends that customers requiring more time to upgrade or migrate to newer products before (EOSL) should contract for Extended Support where available. Coverage is available for up to two years, and is available in 6-month increments.
