EMC enhances disaster recovery system | | 2009-09-23 | | | EMC has added cascaded replication to its Data Domain Replicator software. The combination of high speed inline deduplication, cross-site deduplication and simultaneous transmission of data to offsite locations will allow greater speed, flexibility and reliability of data transfer for disaster recovery operations. Replicator allows data transfer over low-bandwidth WAN links. The enhancement allows replication to an additional third destination as well as to multiple off site locations.Replicator software now supports 180-to-1 remote site fan-in to a single controller for expanded automated cross-site deduplication and up to 100% faster directory replication throughput using optimised, multi-stream replication. The 180-to-1 fan-in is available on the new DD880 deduplication system, supporting an average throughput of up 5.4TB per hour and single-stream throughput up to 1.2TB per hour. A DD880 with 22TB of usable capacity, NFS and CIFS access, and Enterprise Manager software will cost $400,000. | |
