HP expands NAS portfolio with Ibrix acquisition

Hewlett-Packard has announced an agreement to acquire Billerica, Massachusetts based clustered file serving software specialists Ibrix Inc. The company says the deal is expected to be closed within thirty days and has not revealed the cost.Ibrix will be integrated into HP’s StorageWorks division as part a strategy to converge server and storage infrastructure, improving the interface between applications and data. Ibrix Fusion software allows users to create a NAS system scalable to tens of petabytes which can be managed from a single interface.The move follows a three year reseller arrangement between the two companies that has allowed HP to offer Ibrix products with StorageWorks storage-area networks, HP ProLiant servers, HP BladeSystem, and HP ProCurve Ethernet switches and management software.
