HP to launch mainframe modernisation program | | 2008-04-09 | | HP has unveiled a program designed to help clients upgrade ageing mainframe applications to more modern languages and platforms.
The HP Modernization Factory program will offer three assessment tools.
The Modernization Profile tool will analyse existing applications and break them down by subsystems based on their relative complexity and I/O volume. A colour coded grid will display the difficulty of conversion and the relative benefits from doing so. The Clone Set Analyzer, looks for duplicate blocks of code in the application and the Clone Pattern Analyzer, searches for "hidden patterns of code reuse" to help group together similar applications.
The program will not be sold, but will be available to customers visiting one of HP’s five worldwide modernisation centres. These centres will be staffed by experts in legacy technologies such as IBM’s CICS and MO series. Whilst keen to promote HP hardware solutions, HP undertake not to influence the analysis by predetermining the environment.
The company offers an initial review and assessment of a customer’s systems for $50,000. | |
