Hitachi’s USP’s now compatible with IBM System z10 servers | | 2008-12-28 | | | Hitachi has announced its Universal Storage Platform (USP) V and VM are now certified for use with the latest generation IBM System z10 servers.Compatibility and interoperability certification with IBM’s zHPF enhancements to the System z architecture and the FICON interface architecture now allows customers to mix Hitachi storage and IBM storage in the mainframe environment. The successful testing was conducted for Hitachi’s support of Enterprise System Connection (ESCON), Fiber Connection (FICON), High Performance FICON for System z (ZHPF) and Fiber Channel Protocol (FCP) connectivity for select configurations of IBM System z10, System zSeries 990, 890, 900 and 800 systems running operating systems including z/OS V1.9, z/VM V5.3, z/VSE V4.1 and Linux on System z Novell SUSE SLES 9 and SLES 10. | |
