2009-07-26
IBM is to expand its data centre networking technology options in a series of extended deals with Juniper, Cisco and Brocade. The new original equipment manufacturing (OEM) deal with router manufacturer Juniper builds on the original 2007 deal and allows IBM to market Juniper EX 4200 and 8200 series Ethernet switches and MX series Ethernet services routers. IBM will continue to offer its Managed Maintenance Services on Juniper routing, switching and security products as well as continued collaboration on Juniper’s Stratus project - a single data centre fabric for converged and virtualized data centre environments being developed in conjunction with IBM’s ten global cloud labs. The new OEM deal with Brocade extends an agreement made in February allowing IBM to use Brocade’s NetIron family of Ethernet routers and switches. Brocade’s Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) will now be offered as the IBM Converged Switch B32 and 10Gb Converged Network Adapter. From September, IBM will resell Cisco’s Nexus 5000 Series - data centre switches supporting 10GbE with Fibre Channel and Fibre Channel over Ethernet.
